NSW Department of EducationThe NSW Department of Education has responsibility for the provision of funding and support, as well as the regulation of education and care services across NSW.

As the regulatory authority in NSW, the department monitors, supports and regulates education and care services. These responsibilities include assessment and rating and the provision of regular feedback, review and enforcement of compliance and approval processes for all education and care services and providers, to ensure they are operating within the relevant state and national laws.

The department also has responsibility for shaping and leading policy, and creating strategies to implement and administer state-based funding to continuously improve both the quality of and access to early childhood education in NSW. This involves engaging and collaborating with a range of stakeholders including state and national associations, peak bodies and councils.
